Cheap Parking for Red White and Boom
Fourth of July is that special time when a trip to the cabin, a picnic at Grandma’s, and a trip downtown are equally excellent ideas. If this year has you in the downtown boat, Red, White, and Boom! won’t let you down.
The two-day event starts on the third, providing an ample feeling of an extended weekend (even if you have to work on Monday.) There’s live music from 7 – 8:30 pm, and at dusk, an outdoor movie.
July 4th is an action-packed day, beginning with the Red, White, and Boom! Half Marathon, 5K, and relay at 6:30 am. From 6-10 pm, things kick back up with some more live music and family activities. Then at ten is the big firework show.
This all takes place on the Downtown Minneapolis Riverfront. If you’re just in it for fireworks, there is good news and bad. The good news is that there are ample places to watch the fireworks on both sides of the river. You’ll get close enough to enjoy. The bad news is that with that many people already downtown, you’re going to have to take a little hike to find parking.
There is more good news, though. About a mile away from several firework viewing spots are two ramps that will only cost $6. The Park and Shop ramps are located on Hennepin and S 8th street, and Hennepin and S 7th street. Enjoy a nice stroll to and from the fireworks, and avoid some of the traffic congestion on the way out. Here’s a link for Red, White, and Boom!
