Demetri Martin Back at State Theatre
If you love comedy the State Theatre is your go-to March 3rd with Demetri Martin.
Martin has a recognizably unique sense of humor that tends to appeal to everyone. His deadpan delivery adds a layer to his jokes that create a beat between the punchline and when the audience gets it. He reorganizes the way we see things, and with a tone that lacks emotion, magically infuses his words with an energetic amount of humor.
Martin is a Yale graduate who passed up a full scholarship to New York University School of Law to pursue a career in comedy. (He was also admitted to Harvard Law School.) His stand-up has won international awards, including the Perrier award at the 2003 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In addition to his Comedy Central Presents specials and his own show, Important Things With Demetri Martin, he wrote for Late Night with Conan O’Brien and contributed to The Daily Show. Seems he made the right call on his career path, but then again, we don’t know what kind of lawyer he would have made.
If you haven’ t seen him perform live, there’s no better time than the Wandering Mind tour. It’s at the State Theatre Sunday, March 3rd at 8 pm. Tickets are $39.50 to $139; the VIP package includes a meet and greet. You’ll find $6 parking near the venue at two Park and Shop ramps. The discount is valid all day Sundays and after 4 pm the rest of the week.
