Feed your Soul with Leon Bridges at the Orpheum
Young and humble, Leon Bridges has gained lightning-speed traction in the music industry. In 2014, he was working as a dishwasher while he wrote songs and played at open-mic nights around Fort Worth, Texas. He found his natural gifts in the 1950s and 60s style soul music, eventually catching the attention of Austin Jenkins and Joshua Block of White Denim. “Coming Home,” for which Bridges is best known, was on the album that the three recorded together. It received airplay on local radios stations and resulted in a deal with Columbia Records.
From there, his popularity exploded. He made the cover of Fort Worth, Texas Magazine, and his debut album was a 2015 Album to Look Forward to From Texans by the New York Times. He sold out his first concert in the UK – the London Village Underground.”Coming Home” is featured in an iPhone 6 commercial, and he has played numerous prestigious concerts and festivals.
Bridges is easy and sweet to listen to. His genuine modesty about his talents gives a kind, authentic feel to his music, definitely resonating with the 50s and 60s soul he emulates. Bridges will be at the Orpheum on Wednesday, September 28th at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $35 -$45. There is $6 downtown Minneapolis parking at the Park and Shop ramps very close to the venue. The discount applies after 4 pm (all day on Sundays.)
