Legendary Art Garfunkel in Minneapolis
Some of the most beautifully moving harmonies and songs in history came from the voices of Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon. Some of their most revered hits include “Mrs. Robinson,” “Scarborough Fair,” “The Sound Of Silence,” “The Boxer,” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Few musicians can work their voices together the way that they did, in a stop-you-in-your-tracks beckoning to listen and allow the sweetness to wash over you.
The duo split in 1970, and each pursued a solo career in different avenues of arts and music. Garfunkel found success as a solo artist and released his last album just a few years ago in 2012. Rolling Stone called it, “a revelation from start to finish.”
Garfunkel has also appeared in several films, often playing major roles. He received a Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe nomination for his role opposite Jack Nicholson in Carnal Knowledge. He’s also published a critically acclaimed collection of poetry.
On Thursday, January 7th, you can enjoy the many talents of this legendary performer live at the Pantages Theatre. Art Garfunkel: In Close-Up features hits from Simon and Garfunkel as well as his solo career, and will also include his poetry and reflections on his professional life. It begins at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $58.50 – $104. You can find $6 downtown Minneapolis parking at the Park and Shop ramps after 4 pm. The ramps are very close to the venue.
