Grammy Award-winning Lewis Black is one of the most popular comics working today. He performs over 200 nights a year to sold-out audiences around the world. Ridiculing politics, religion, history, and trends, Black works himself into a frenzy that falls just short of a mental breakdown. His passionately animated comedic delivery brings sidesplitting enjoyment to every performance.
The comedian/actor/writer has a Master of Fine Arts, and his stand-up began as an opening act for plays when he worked as a playwright. His appearances on “The Daily Show” in 1996 earned him national attention. He did his first comedy special for Comedy Central in the late 90s. Black has performed a number of comedy specials as well as appeared on television and film. He has published three best-selling books.
Two of Black’s shows at the State Theatre in 2011 were filmed and used in his comedy special “In God we Rust.” He has an impressive history touring venues. According to the Hennepin Theatre Trust website, “He is one of a few performers to sell out multiple renowned theatres including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Brooks Atkinson Theatre, New York City Center, the Main Stage at the Mirage in Las Vegas and most recently a sold out Broadway run at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in NYC.”
The Pantages Theatre is located in downtown Minneapolis. For parking that won’t leave you in a rant, use the Park and Shop ramps. They are a short walk from the theater and only cost $6 after 4 pm.
