Miike Snow: Reunited and it Feels so Good
This electronic pop trio brought us an inspired take on music that transformed the music scene with their 2009 self-titled debut. Three years later, Happy To You showed us what experimental capabilities these lads really have. Following that tour, fans expected to continue seeing new music. However, somewhat a supergroup, the three are individually so successful and busy that no one knew if Miike Snow would release a third album.
In late 2014, they reunited in Los Angeles, and the magic returned, but in part because there wasn’t a goal or agenda. The three simply wanted to see what would happen if they sat down to make music again. American songwriter Andrew Wyatt said of the experience:
“On this record we went back to that initial feeling of freedom. When we got together there was a lot of tension and it felt very loaded. We’d all had individual successes in our own lives. We didn’t know if we were going to stay a band. But because of that it was easy to make the music. We had a lot on the line and that intensity allowed us to have bursts of creative energy that yielded some really cool things.”
Minneapolis fans are excited for their return, and can see the Go 96.3 show at the First Ave Mainroom on July 3rd at 7:30. Tickets are $25. First Ave has a parking lot, but there is cheaper parking a short walk away at the park and Shop ramps. After 4, they only charge $6 (the discount applies all day Sundays.)
