Time Again for U of M Law School Musical!
Okay, so the show isn’t just for law school students, graduates, dabblers, and dropouts. Tale as Old as TIme is for anyone who enjoys parodies, likes Beauty and the Beast, or simply has a sense of humor. The whole reason to see it is because it comes from the imaginations of law school students, and who doesn’t want to see what kind of creativity these people can unleash?
The Theatre of the Relatively Talentless (TORT) is the collective creative side of the students at the U of M Law School. The students involved write, produce, direct, and perform musicals and other performances. They put on one show a year, and it draws a big crowd. U of M faculty and members of the MN legal community make frequent cameos, so this is a really exciting show for students and alumni alike.
To get an idea of the sense of humor you can expect, TORT has explained in the past:
“Membership in T.O.R.T. is open to all law students without regard to race, religion, color, sex, national origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, creed, marital status, public assistance status, class standing, political preferences, bluebooking skill, journal or moot court membership (or neither), current job offer, propensity to chase ambulances, originalist views, or ability to use the term ‘a fortiori’ in a sentence.”
This year’s show is again at the Pantages Theatre. The two performances run March 29th and 30th at 7 pm. Tickets are $17-$22. You can find $6 downtown Minneapolis parking near the venue at two Park and Shop ramps. The discount is offered after 4 pm every day (all day Sundays.)
