Your Favorite Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Orpheum
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat hits the Orpheum March 29th – April 3rd, 2016; nearby parking just $6.
What started as a 15-minute pop cantana in 1968 is now one of the most celebrated and long-running shows in history. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has made its way back to Minneapolis for whopping eight performances this spring.
This family musical reimagines the story of Joseph from the Book of Genesis. The favorite of Jacob’s twelve sons, Joseph has the gift of dream interpretation. When the dream surfaces that Joseph is destined to rule over the brothers, they attempt to change fate by getting rid of him, thus beginning an unfortunate series of events for Joseph. However, in the second act, Joseph’s luck changes dramatically when the Pharaoh needs his dreams interpreted, and he ultimately predicts a seven-year famine.
The prediction of the famine allowed the Egyptians to prepare for the disaster and therefore weather the storm. It’s when the famine catches up with Joseph’s brothers that the family is reunited and the truth about what the brother’s did to Joseph is revealed.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will be at the Orpheum Theatre March 29th – April 3rd. Tickets are $3 – $134 and available through the State Theatre Box Office. Downtown Minneapolis parking is only $6 for most shows at two Park and Shop ramps. The ramps are very close to the venue and offer the discount all day Sundays and after 4 pm the rest of the week.
